For those wishing to take a restful day lying in the sand, this is the place. A long sandy beach runs into shallow water, making this the perfect place to cool down and learn to swim. Various rockpools are strewn along the way making excellent spots for fishing. On windy nights, the shores may glow blue as the resident phytoplankton are disturbed by the waves and begin to glow via bioluminesce.

One of the more southerly territories in the east, the Torrid Terrain offers gently rolling hills. Covered in rough, hardy grasses with small copses of trees to provide shelter, this is the primer place to go in search of food. In the summer, this territory gets hot and fights may break out for the meagre water reserves.

Surrounded by rivers, the plains host a wide variety of grasses and edible shrubbery. The ground here is rather soft and often turns into mud in periods of heavy rain. As a consequence, trees find it hard to take root, making the plains a very open landscape to dwell in. Over time, the rivers have altered their course, leaving ponds and small lakes in their wake.

Caught between large rivers, the marsh is a treeless expanse covered with tall grasses, rushes and cattails. For those caught in the marsh, be ready to get wet feet. The tall fauna make the marsh a very secluded area for those looking to find some peace and quiet - provided the endless buzz of insects don't put you off. Also, beware of alligators!

Deciduous trees grow in peaceful harmony, drawing water from the vast network of streams. The soil is particularly rich in this erstwhile floodplain, giving rise to a wide variety of flora. Grasses and shrubs reach out in all directions; a veritable carpet of green. Come winter, though, the expanse loses much of its colourful glory, with the bare trees setting a rather dismal scene.

For those willing to take a swim and a steep scramble into account, the retreat offers a place to get close to the elements. After clambering up the rocky lower half, the adventurer is rewarded with an open expanse of green grass and the ever-present salty sea wind. No trees grow up here; there are only small shrubs to provide shelter from wind, rain or sun.

With the beach nearby, the soil here is very sandy. This makes it hard for green plants to take root, and has allowed some of the tougher plants to flourish. Foremost among these are tall reeds that stand proudly above the tangled spinifex. For those looking for a lazy day on the beach, beware! The knolls are part of a salt marsh that will flood as the tide comes in.

Rising up steeply at the base of the Gelid Range, this is no land for the faint-hearted. Great pinnacles of rock rear upwards, leaving only narrow ravines for the brave to travel along. Mountain-climbers are warned against the rockfalls and avalanches that frequent these steep, rocky lands.

Here the ground sweeps below the peaks of the Gelid Range in a series of far-reaching alpine meadows. Given the high altitude and poor soil, only the hardiest grasses and plants grow here. Nonetheless, a wide selection of flowers bloom from late spring to early autumn, bathing the mountainside in colour. A steep climb up from here takes you to the Bleak Heights

Centuries ago, a large volcano erupted so violently that it collapsed upon its empty magna chamber. The resulting crater boasts of magnificent proportions! Although the climate here is very dry, tough grasses have managed to make a living from the rich volcanic soil.

More a lake than a pond, this is the largest body of still water for miles around. Surrounded by lush grass, leafy trees and shrubs, this is the perfect place to think through your problems or meet a few face. In the hot summer months, the clear water is a popular place for cooling off.

Dominating the skyline in the Vysoki Reaches is the Gelid Range which runs from north to south. Formed where two tectonic plates press unceasingly against each other, a series of mountains are now established. Nestled between neighbouring peaks, icy mountain lakes and alpine meadows dotted with fir trees can be found.

The northernmost peaks are the crown jewels of the Gelid Range. Standing impossible high, they are permanently covered in snow. The air up here is crisp and sharp, letting you clear your mind from all your worries. Nights up here are frigid and the only shelter to be found are snow-covered boulders.

Lying in the foothills of the Gelid Range, the valley is a fertile land boasting juicy grass and woodland. The trees here are mainly evergreens, with winter covering the undulating hills in a fluffy layer of snow. A river and a few mountain streams run through the valley, making it a rich hunting ground.

This is one of most peaceful spots around. Beneath a leafy canopy of oaks, beeches and horse chestnuts a carpet of grass stretches in all directions. The wood is most beautiful in early spring when bluebells, crocuses and snowdrops bloom in ever corner, making this a perfect place for a romantic stroll with your significant other.

Home to a large area of tall wild grasses, the fields are prime grazing grounds for large game throughout the year. A few tough flowers blossom amidst the grasses, growing tall in order to catch some sunlight. Small copses of trees are dotted across the fields, offering shelter to those who dwell here.

Just like the Swain fields, the Sweep offers plenty of grazing. The grass here is green and juicy, which tempts the weak and feeble herd members who try to fatten up and regain health. Trees grow in patches across the Sweep, making this a habitable place in all weathers.

Whatever life there once was in this corner has long since dehydrated and decomposed. Sitting under a relentless sun, the very ground itself is parched. The sandy ground is shrivelled and cracked, feeling warm beneath your feet. There is no water to be found in these lands, making the desert an unpopular living space.

For those willing to get a bit wet, a short swim will take you to a lovely little island. Washed up over time by the tides and cross-tides, this island of sand is a lovely basking place. Some salt-tolerant grasses have managed to populate the dunes, but little else manages to grow in these conditions.

While not quite as hot as the Cracked Sands, this stretch of land is equally dry. Water is extremely precious amidst the endless stretches of pale sand. For those who know where to look, water may be found by digging deep holes.

Wildflowers blossom here from mid-spring until mid-autumn, making these fields a hub for small insects. Situated within these fields is a small lake, offering a way of cooling down if the summer sun is too strong. This is a popular spot for much wildlife and makes excellent hunting grounds.

Smoothed over time by waves and wind, the rocky shoreline here is made of rounded rocks. The rocks lead into deep and choppy waters, making this a dangerous place to go swimming. Seaweed is regularly washed onto the rocks after particularly windy periods, giving off a pungent odour when caught in sunlight.

Only short, scraggly grass manages to grow here. During the hot periods of summer, it is not uncommon for some the the dried grass to catch fire and set an entire region of the Dead Lands aflame. Prey have long known to avoid this place with its bare landscape and whisper of smoke on the air.

Little has changed to this small town since the outbreak of the Skoria virus, save for the distinct lack of human bustling. Nearly the entire population succumbed to the virus in the initial outbreak. Buildings are left untouched, reminders of the countless families hidden behind closed doors and shuttered windows.

Covered in short grass with long roots, the gently rolling plain offers grazing but little shelter. The sandy soil drains rainwater quickly, making long journeys necessary to find a small stream or pool that isn't dried up.

In a shallow basin towards the heart of the lands, much of the rain and meltwater collects in a wide, but shallow networks of interlinked ponds. Prey frequently come by the basin to drink before moving on to better grazing, as only water-loving plants and tall grasses manage to live in this area of constant damp. Many insects can be found flitting above the water, whilst the unwary wader might find himself face to face with an alligator!

Situated near the Gelid Range, the Timberland lies in a spot of low pressure. The water that is pulled from the ground in this manner can't fully escape the canopy of the trees, and thus swirls as thick fog between the tree trunks. When the Dead Lands are ablaze, the smoke and ash is brought to the Timberland on a south-westerly breeze, filling the forest with the acrid smell of burning.

Perched at the foot of the Gelid Range, the copse also has a natural tendency to accumulate haze and mists. Comprising of both leafy trees and evergreen pines, the copse grows quite densely allowing little sunlight to pass through. Cast almost constantly in semi-darkness, the plant life here is tough and unyielding. Shrubs sporting spines and thorns tug at the passerby, and fallen branches lie in wait to trip you up.
