Laws of the Land

As with any website, Skoria has a list of rules and guidelines which all users must follow. Our site expectations and guidelines are our rules, don't let the wording fool you. We know there are a lot, but please read them all. They are all important. These are put into place to keep the peace and to keep the site feeling like a welcome and open environment to any who may visit. If you ever encounter a problem or a rule-breaker on the site, please don't hesitate to let someone on the staff know. We are here to help and alerting us of problems is the only way to smooth things out.

Be sure to check out the new user guide after reading the rules if you haven't done it already!

Site Expectations

1.01 Keep yourself updated on rules and announcements. There is no excuse if it is there in plain writing. We will not make changes without alerting you. So it is always a good idea to check the Updates and Manual after you return.

1.02 Sexual, racist, opressive, belittling, disrespectful, or just plain rude comments are not permitted. Use tact and respect in all interactions to the best of your ability. Being blunt is one thing, being a jerk is something else entirely.

1.03 Swearing is allowed so long as it is not directed at another member. Please tag posts containing excessive swearing as mature.

1.04 Lurkers are not permitted. If you wish to lurk the forum, please use the guest account. Lurkers will be marked as "Hibernating".

1.05 If you are leaving for a period longer than a week, please post on the Hiatus board so that we know you are on leave. This will prevent your account from going into Hibernation.

1.06 Should you return to the site and find yourself in Hibernation, you can post in the joining board to have yourself re-evaluated and re-sorted.

1.07 Be respectful to all members! This was somewhat covered in Rule 2 but we can not stress it enough. If you can't say something nice then try not to say anything at all; at least say it with some tact and dignity.

1.08 Do not argue in a public way. If you need assistance with sorting something out then a member of staff is more than willing to mediate for you. If you can not discuss it in PM without fear of bad things happening then please message a staff member and we will help you.

1.09 No characters can be created based off of copyright characters. This is not a fan site. You may use names of these characters but little more.

1.10 Upon joining you can have 3 characters. After a month has passed then you can create more. You can have as many as you feel you can handle. However, if we notice that you are not active enough with some characters we may ask that you drop them. Also please do not make so many characters that you end up having to role-play with only yourself. The limit of characters is 11.
1.10a Humans are a rare species so we have lmited them to 2 humans per person. You may buy more human slots in the shop. Wolves are not limited by anything other than the absolute max character count of 11.

1.11 You may adopt a character from the adoption center at any point, even if you already have two characters. Please see the rules of adopting characters inside the adoption board.

1.12 Signatures should not exceed 700 pixels by 250 pixels or 12 lines of text. If you combine image and text then please no more than 6 lines of text above or below the image.

1.13 Avatars can not exceed 200 pixels wide by 300 pixels tall.

1.14 Users may only log into their own accounts Under no circumstances - outside of adopting a character - should you ever log into another user's accounts.

1.15 If you have posted incorrectly, with the wrong character, in the wrong board, etc then please let a staff member know via the "Fix Me" page.

1.16 Please use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation at all times. It ensures that your meaning is clear and other users can understand what you are trying to convey.

In-character Rules

2.01 Each in-character post should consist of 250 words. We have a script on site that counts them for you but you may also use an off-site word counter.

2.02 Godmoding and powerplaying are not allowed unless you have been given permission by the other player. This means that you can not make unwanted physical contact with another character, can not control the other character, and can not say how they are feeling. This also means that you can not successfully sneak up on other players or ambush other players without their consent. If you are confused about this then please let us know.

2.03 Use proper grammar and spelling! Wolfspeak is not allowed. Please see our article on wolfspeak, what it is, and why it is not allowed.

2.04 Events must happen in-character. Some characters may be privvy to important information. As an example, a pack member going missing is going to be noticed by the majority of the pack. However, details about the pack member missing, such as where they have gone and why they are missing must be played out in-character in order for your character to know what is going on.

2.05 In addition to rule 2.04, your character can not know another character's name or history without being told. You know it but your character does not. Just don't let OOC knowledge influence your posts, period.

2.06 Do not do things that are outside the realm of possibility for your character. Use some common sense for this. If you do something reckless that could result in death then you may be hit by a random event killing your character. Be calculative! If you don't want to die then don't do things that would put your character in a situation like this. Example: Do not have your character jump of a 50 foot bluff and expect them to live.

2.07 Graphic mating and fighting is not permitted on our forums. Please do it somewhere off of our site if you must do it. This is per Proboards TOS and we will respect it. We may, in the future, move to a forums.net account to allow this - if there is enough of a user base wanting it. You may include blood and injuries, just no gore or sex. Keep it PG-13!

2.08 Your character does not have to be of sound mind or body, but please don't label it as anything. That includes but is not limited to: autism, depression, anxiety, PTSD, skizophrenia, and more. Yes, every character is different but we want to be sensitive to all members and often these things are portrayed incorrectly or in a bad light. If you are found to be roleplaying in a way that is insensitive or offensive to other players or visitors then you will be given your first warning.

Warnings and Bans

3.01 On your first violation of breaking the rules you get a warning. A warning is marked on your account but does not have negative consequences beyond that.

3.02 If you have to be warned again then you will be given a one week ban from the site.

3.03 If you reach a third warning your account(s) will be banned for one month.

3.04 If you return after that point and continue to break the rules you will be permanently banned. Banned accounts are not deleted, they are sorted as "banned".

3.05 Depending on what rule you break and how severe the offense, you may be banned immediately upon Administrator discretion.
